Teaching Certification

Important Update: This certification course will equip faculty with the essential knowledge and skills to effectively teach in various modalities. Going forward, all faculty will need to be recertified every two years.

Audience: Faculty seeking to get certified to teach a blended, distance learning, and/or online course at APU.

Purpose: Our accreditation stipulates that all faculty must undergo proper training prior to teaching their first blended, distance learning, or online course at APU.

Description: This certification course orients faculty to APU's philosophy and approach to teaching in different modalities. Specifically, these courses offer faculty technical training on the effective use of Canvas (APU's learning management system) and pedagogical training on how to integrate the Christian faith in their courses.

  2. Canvas Essentials 1: Overview & Communication

  3. Canvas Essentials 2: Course & Content

  4. Canvas Essentials 3: Assessment & Grading

  5. Core Concepts: Academic Faith Integration, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, & Accessibility

Your certification is valid for two years from the date of your certificate of completion. If you are not sure that you have been certified previously or do not have a copy of the certificate, check your status here: Modality Approved Faculty.
